Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers (LVC)
Non-profit organization of more than 250+ volunteers from Loudoun County who help our seniors and neighbors with disabilities maintain independent living. LVC provides a wide range of support services including transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, errands, household chores, special outings and help with managing personal financial affairs Wheelchair-Assisted Transportation (*NEW! as of November 2023)
The Veteran Enhanced Transportation Service (V.E.T.S.)
Volunteer transportation program for veterans and their spouses, age 55 or older, who are unable to transport themselves to doctors’ offices or pharmacies.
The Herndon Village Network (HVN)
Local nonprofit that provides free transportation to doctor offices, stores, restaurants, and more for Herndon senior citizens, who are 55 and older and who live in the 20170 zip code and select neighborhoods and communities in the 20171 zip code. Membership fees may apply
Reston Community Center (RCC)
A Fairfax County Government agency. For adults ages 55 years and older who are no longer comfortable driving or cannot drive. Volunteer drivers provide door-to-door rides for essential needs such as medical or dental appointments, shopping, personal care, banking and more. Before requesting your first ride, a Client application must be completed. All rides must be requested at least one week in advance. Send in your applications now to become a client of RCC Rides.
Shepherd’s Center Northern Virginia (SCNOVA)
A non-profit organization, has been dedicated to improving the quality of life as we age, through supportive programs and services, personal enrichment and volunteer engagement that enable our senior neighbors to live full and productive lives while aging in place. SCNOVA Serve Oakton, Vienna, Reston, Herndon, and Great Falls. 260+ trained and vetted volunteers provide free transportation to medical appointments or errands such as grocery shopping, the bank or library. Offer friendly calls and visits, delivery of groceries, handy helpers, health care education, lifelong learning and cultural enrichment.
Shepherd’s Center of McLean-Arlington-Falls Church (SCMAFC)
Non-profit, volunteer-based, interfaith organization sponsored by area congregations, community groups and businesses to serve older persons in these areas of Northern Virginia. We are dedicated to assisting senior adults in maintaining an independent and safe lifestyle.
Shepherd’s Center of Western Fairfax County
Interfaith community-based organization that provides meaning and purpose for adults living in and around the communities of Clifton, Centreville, and Chantilly throughout their mature years. Our role is to build and support this community network of services; at present, we offer assisted driving for medical and food bank appointments but will be expanding our services shortly. Shepherd’s Centers all have a commonly understood mission to empower older adults to use their wisdom and skills for the good of their communities.
Fairfax Village in the City (FVIC)
A city-supported, volunteer-driven program developed to support Fairfax City residents aged 55+ and Fairfax City adults with disabilities who wish to stay independent. The Village does not replace existing supports and services currently available to City residents through Fairfax County and local nonprofits. The Village recruits and schedules vetted City-based volunteers to provide personal services like check-in calls and visits, basic and seasonal yard assistance, technology assistance, and transportation to appointments. The goal of the Village is to support healthy aging by sharing useful information, strengthening personal connections between neighbors, and providing opportunities for social interaction.
Shepherd’s Center Fairfax-Burke and South County (SCFB, SCSC)
Non-profit, community-based organization, that supports and enriches the lives of older adults living in the Fairfax-Burke area. SCFB offers no-cost transportation by volunteers driving their own cars, for medical appointments and accompanied shopping, to adults over 50 years of age who are no longer driving or who are temporarily unable to drive. New volunteer drivers and office support are always welcome. *NOW Serving South County Area!
Shepherd’s Center of Annandale-Springfield (SCAS)
Non-profit interfaith organization sponsored by area congregations and community groups to serve older persons in the Annandale, Springfield, and Falls Church areas of Northern Virginia. Our primary purpose is to provide services to assist older adults to continue to live independently in their own homes and to offer programs which supply opportunities for enrichment, learning and socialization. Volunteer opportunities allow individuals to feel needed by reaching out to other older adults.

Grassroots not-for-profit organization founded by and for individuals age 55 and older who live in Alexandria and who want to remain in their own homes, living independently in the community they love. AHA provides practical support and social opportunities that makes their members’ day more pleasant. Membership fees may apply
Mount Vernon At Home (MVAH)
Part of the national “village” movement, which embraces a volunteer-driven approach in providing services to help our senior neighbors age in place safely, comfortably, and confidently in their own homes in the community they love. Members are able to enjoy enhanced peace of mind and independence with the services provided by our enthusiastic volunteers while enjoying Mount Vernon At Home social, educational and cultural programs with new and longtime friends.With one call, our staff and volunteers are here to help you with your home and transportation needs.
